How does stress affect men?

How does stress affect men?

Stress is a part of our everyday life and the human body is designed to respond to psychological stress and its effects. There is a big variation in the perception of stress by people which makes it impossible to categorically state that a gender of the two sexes is more sensitive to stress than the other. How does stress affect men? This question has been pondered upon by wives and women generally who have one thing or the other to do with men. Even in the same sex such as men, there are differences in the way they are affected. The same response may be elicited from the same type of psychological stress by most men but largely, responses in relation to stress management are varied.

Stress research termed stress response as the “flight or fight” reaction. This means that there is a surge of hormones that get released in an acutely stressful situation that people find themselves. This makes him either prepared to fight or flee the stressful situation. With recent findings in stress research, the “flight or fight” theory has been confirmed based on researches conducted largely in men. It was suggested that there is the likelihood that there has been an evolution of a different stress response in the womenfolk.

Aggression, scowling, abstaining from the company of friends are some of the common signs of stress in men. The ability to manage stress is one of the things that mark out men as being different.
